The autumnal equinox is just around the corner and with it always come the tail ends of the hurricanes across the Atlantic. My husband Nigel watched the gales with amusement/trepidation as his namesake storm caused chaos nationwide.
Today the wild and windy weather has given way to soft sunshine and the beginning of the golden days of Autumn. The days are getting shorter, the mornings mistier and a definite chill in the air but still the sun gives its gentle warmth.
Another season also upon us is wild mushroom time. Keen foragers are scouring the woods and fields for their treasure. I love the names of some of the fungi – Bay Bolete, Branched Oyster, Chicken of the Woods, Blushing Wood Mushroom. And they look so glamourous too.
Our new Winter Menu is now live on the website – have a look here – mushrooms are in evidence: Wild Mushroom Arancini, Treviso, Truffle Honey Parmesan and Toasted Hazelnuts feature as does Carpaccio of Beef with Porcini and Truffle Mayonnaise, Rocket, Parmesan, Crispy fried Breadcrumbs.
If you’ve got an Autumn or Winter event coming up, please do be in touch – I’d be delighted to discuss it all with you.
Meantime, I hope the Winter Menu whets your appetite!
